History: It was in early 1926 that Don Jose Fernandez Don Pepe, who was a baker by trade, and a native of Cantabria, Spain, then living in Cordova, Veracruz bought the Gran Cafe del Portal, which was formerly a cafe, a candy store, and then a pastry shop. He then moved to live in the Port, along with his wife, to start the most important stages in the life of this place, and also the most difficult, which today has made this corner for its cleanliness, service and superb culinary delights and pastries, a not to be missed stop for visitors from all over the world, and for locals a place for everyday gatherings and meetings of Veracruzanos.
