The Antigua Aduana Maritima of Tampico is considered one of the most beautiful architectural works in the city.  It stands on the banks of the Thames and Panuco rivers, and it was Porfirio Díaz himself who ordered its construction.  The design is said to have been copied from a European-style building. The ironwork was brought from France, and the wood from the United States, Louisiana.  The building retains its original structure, and although it no longer serves as the customs office of the port of Tampico, it is proud to have been considered one of the most important customs in the country in its time. A visit during the day is wonderful for seeing its outside,  and it is worth mentioning that from its corridors a panorama like no other of the Rio Panuco can be admired. Here, the Museo Tampico 1829 can also be visited.
