The Main Square (Jardín Principal) is undoubtedly the heart of the city. At the south of the park stand out the bell towers of the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel, the symbol of San Miguel. On the east and west sides lie arches and colonial buildings, and to the north stands city hall. But it is the park itself that draws visitors to sit and chat on the benches in the shade of laurel trees listening to the musicians play from its central kiosk, or to sit on the side and watch one of the many parades pass by that the town enjoys so much.
And while this may all sound a bit old-fashioned, the main square is also a great place to stay connected to the outside world. Recently the park has become an internet hot spot with wireless internet service available to anyone with a laptop.
