Information

Seat of the local City Hall since 1893, the Palacio Municipal of San Cristobal de las Casas is a neoclassical style building that is the work of architect Carlos Z. Flores who remodeled this two story building inspired by the Maestro Vignola.

Its front facade consists of Tuscany style columns that frame rectangular windows in a  neoclassical expression. At the rear of the palace lies a large civic plaza, framed with semicircular arches and heavy columns.

The building that appears  today, replaced the former palace that was destroyed in a fire in 1863 during riots between imperialists and republicans.
