In northwestern Mexico in the state of Tamaulipas, is the city of Nuevo Laredo, a border city with Laredo (Texas, USA). The Rio Grande is a long waterway of 3,034 kilometers that comes from the San Juan Mountains in southern Colorado in the Rocky Mountains.

The four international bridges that cross it linking Nuevo Laredo to the U.S. city of Laredo are the International Gateway to the Americas Bridge, International Juarez-Lincoln Bridge, International World Trade Bridge and a railroad bridge.
