Information

This was one of the first buildings that were constructed in Valladolid in the sixteenth century.
In its baroque facade you can admire the work of the natives of the region. Inside the church you can see a great ornamentation of the nineteenth century on its sides and on the main altarpiece which is attributed to the architect Francisco Eduardo Tres Guerras.
Here is venerated the Virgen del Socorro, image donated to the augustinian friars by Santo Tomas de Villanueva, archbishop of Valencia, before his death in 1565.
One of the best kept secrets of this temple is a side chapel located next to the sacristy whose dome is covered with paintings and its walls with oil paintings of famous people in the time of New Spain from the painter Javier Tapia.
The former convent is next to the temple. This place of Gothic influence has wooden beams ceilings and in some walls you can still distinguish a border fresco painted. Just outside the church and joining the two buildings you will see one of the most beautiful esplanades of Morelia.
