Located in the state of Nuevo León, we find a city of vital importance for the México. This great city is underlined by its incredible variety of entertainment that feeds the spirit of the “regios” (regales), for the amplitude and magnificence of its cultural spaces, such as being a true icon for big businesses and corporations where its business shines, stretching the four points of the globe: Monterrey, the royal city.

One of the most visited attractions in the city is the Gran Plaza, in the center of the city. Here we find the Palacio de Gobierno (Government Palace) and the Paseo Santa Lucía (Santa Lucía Pass), a place to get together and rest, where Diego de Montemayor founded Monterrey more than 400 years ago. We also find the Faro del Comercio (Commercial Lighthouse), the Fuente de la Vida (Fountain of Life), the Catedral de Monterrey (Monterrey Cathedral), constructed in 1770 and finished in 1899. The Faro del Comercio, situated in front of the Catedral, is one of the distinctive elements of the Gran Plaza: a simple and colossal monument pointed to the sky, which is distinguished as the tallest in the Republic at 170 meters, crowned by laser light equipment whose luminous beam breaks the obscurity of the night with its intense emerald green color. The celebrated Mexican architect Luis Barragán designed this monument, and the realization of the work was given to the architect Raúl Ferrara. Its construction commemorated the first one hundred years of the Cámara de Comercio in Monterrey in 1984, but even above that, it was homage to the commercial development of the city that today shines as one its most important symbols.

Very close to the hotel zone in Monterrey, a special zone called the Barrio Antiguo (Old Neighborhood) is open to all visitors. In this area, you will find many cafes, restaurants, bars, and discos that offer an unending supply of dining specialties. There are beautiful green areas that elevate the invaluable ecological patronage in the Parque Fundidora (a nature park), a place that during the 19th century served as the center of steel smelting and that, for the pride of all the mountain regions, today shines with an urban esthetic where a city throbs of great development. Inside the Parque Fundidora we find the Centro de las Artes (Center of the Arts), which promotes the patronage of the plastic arts of the state of Nuevo León, and also supports the local and regional art expressed in disciplines such as the performance, the installation, and many others.

Cintermex is the most important center of businesses, conventions, and exposition in Latin America, unequivocal proof of the commercial and social burden that this city possesses, which once generated a tremendous infrastructure dedicated to culture and entertainment like The Parque Temático Plaza Sésamo (Sesame Street Theme Park), the Cineteca Fototeca Nuevo León, the Centro de las Artes, the Track for the inaugural stage of the CART Series, auditoriums, theatres, etc.
