The Pinoteca del Estado Juan Gamboa Guzman, is dependent on the Yucatan INAH (Institute of Anthropology and History) Center. It is located in a 17th century historical building that belonged to the Jesuit Order. It displays paintings from the colonial era of the 17th and 18th centuries with religious themes such as saints, and portraits of priests and bishops. The 19th century collection presents an important series of portraits of presidents, governors and prominent figures of the Caste War.

The Gallery also displays works by Juan Gamboa Guzman, who was influenced by the French naturalist school. His painting "Heavenly Music" is considered to be one of the most important paintings of Yucatan art. Gabriel Vicente Gahona "Picheta" is also featured, one of the best Mexican printmakers whose genius was complemented by his political satire and social criticism of 19th century Yucatan. Also noteworthy is a sculpture called "The Mayan Bronze" by sculptor Enrique Gottdiener, that gives an intense and original perspective on Yucatan life.

The Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, and on Sundays from 8:00 to 2:00. There is a small admission fee. Admission is free on Sundays for national citizens.
