If anything distinguishes the Yucatan, it is that the people carry their music and Trova in their hearts.
The Museum de la Cancion de Yucateca A.C. was founded in Merida on November 5, 1978 thanks to the initiative of Mrs. Rosario (Charito) Caceres Baqueiro Chamomile, to honor the great performers of Yucatan voice and the music itself.
Have you heard of the late Augie Cardenas? Or, have you identified with one of the songs by composer Armando Manzanero?
As it’s essential purpose, the Museum seeks to rescue, promote and disseminate the songs and music written by Yucatecans of all time, and create a gallery of poets, composers and performers that honor the culture of the state, of Mexico and all of Hispanic America .
We invite you to be left with the romantic thrill that comes from the people of the White City and take a piece of inspiration from this wonderful museum.
