Information

The Catedral de San Ildefonso was the first temple built on lands of America in the second half of the 16th century, and is therefore the oldest of the continent. Although the buildings of the Mayan temples which formerly stood there were those who suffered the consequences for its construction, it is worth seeing its amazing architecture surrounded by the laurel trees. This Cathedral is spectacular for its simple beauty, admirable for its antiquity, and famous for housing in its interior the world’s largest indoor Christ.
