What better way to approach a culture that through their traditions and customs?

The current tourist popularity and importance of the  port has not meant that villagers have been stripped of its cheerful, open and friendly character and do not have forgotten their roots either.
In the region there are still presentations of native dances of the Mayan people besides the ballgame called "Ulama"which was practised in Sinaloa long before the arrival of the Spaniards.
Of course, the music is an indispensable part of the inhabitants of the region, for example, the famous "Tambora" which always liven up the festivals. This type of music is played by 32 instruments, mostly wind and percussion and its rhythm seduce anyone.
And if we talk about crafts, it is worth mentioning the presence of great potters as well as creators of leather work, basketry, hand-woven palm, wool and ixtle, work in wood, ceramics and of course figures made with sea shells.
About gastronomy, thanks to its rich fish production, the dishes based on sea food are very varied and exquisite. Stands out the shrimp, tuna, clams, snapper, marlin, scallop and callo de hacha.
You can also enjoy Machaca, Chilorio and Barbecue.
