Information

Acuario Mazatlán is responsible for the dissemination of the principles of protection and conservation of nature, for being part of the teaching-learning processes through educational programs for attention to school and interest groups. It has an area of approximately one hectare and exposing to the public a great variety of marine and freshwater species, showing the original habitat of an alien and virtually unknown world through its 52 Exhibition ponds, its Museum of the Sea, auditorium, Botanical Garden and the largest medusario of Mexico.
Since its opening on September 13, 1980, the Mazatlan Aquarium is one of the most complete and best of its kind in Latin America. According to the Institution "Its main objective is that the public learn to respect the marine ecosystem on which we depend and are an intrinsic part through the knowledge of marine species." It is divided into two main areas that are The Aquarium and The Botanical Garden; together , they house the following facilities:

Botanical Garden
In the Botanical Garden there are about 75 species of trees from different parts of the world such as China, Japan, India, Venezuela, Africa, Florida among others, there are also regional species from the State of Sinaloa. It has a total area of one hectare. Existing Vegetation Type: Tropical Deciduous Forest, Sub-Deciduous Tropical Forest, Secondary Vegetation, Xerophilous Thicket.

Ranario
Amphibians are an important part of the environment as they are ecological indicators. They were the first vertebrate animals to adapt to semi-terrestrial life. Amphibians are distinguished by suffering a total transformation during their development. In the world there are about 4300 species of amphibians of which 363 species are found in Mexico and 60% are endemic, in the region of Mazatlan there are about 21 species of which one is salamander and the rest are frogs and toads. In the Mazatlan aquarium frog you can admire the differences between frogs and toads, as well as the great variety of colors, sizes and habitats. The Ranario has 21 aquariums in which several species are exhibited. Of different sizes and colors, among some species are:
Zacate Frog
Sapillo de Espuelas
Green frog
Arboricola
Frog Pinta
Mazatlan toad
Giant toad

Crocodile
Crocodiles, species seriously threatened with extinction, are exhibited in a beautiful pond with waterfalls and plants, distinguished by their large size, and despite being fierce animals, Mazatlan Aquarium has 3 females and 1 male.

Aviary
The Aviary originates in the year of 1992, in which birds that inhabit the State of Sinaloa are exhibited, has a waterfall and artificial rock streams with natural plants so that the birds sit in their natural environment. These Birds are within a Reproduction Program, where we have successfully achieved the birth in captivity of some of them. We have about 13 different species among which are: Pavorreales, Collar Ducks, White Pelican, Brown Pelican, Quail, Pichichin Duck, Paloma Alablanca, Endangered Species such as Perrent Frentinaranja, Green Macaw, White Front Parrot, Lilac Crown Parrot, Yellow Head Parrot and Yellow Cheeks Parrot.
