About Los Cabos

There is no doubt that Los Cabos, the region consisting of Cabo Este (East Cabo), Todos los Santos (All the Saints), Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, as well as El Corredor (The Runner), a 25 miles channel that runs between the last two cities, has become one of today’s top destinations for international tourism, due not only to its geographical and natural features, but also for its world class tourist spots that have developed. "El Fin de la Tierra’’ (the end of earth)  some call it, a description that is not out of place, since this corner of earth certainly is an admirable paradise.

It is in Cabo San Lucas, located at the southernmost point of the Baja California Peninsula, where El Arco (The Arch) rises, a rock formation formed by erosion from water on the enormous rocks that emerge from the sea, making it known as a monument of nature since time immemorial. And when the tide descends, under the arch one may see the famous Playa del Amor (Lover’s Beach), reflecting the sun on its soft sands and offering fortunate couples unforgettable experiences.

Due to its touristic importance, many of the best known cruise lines come to Cabo San Lucas. We find in Cabo a great variety of services, sports and entertainment activities; major tourist resorts and hotels, spas, and golf courses designed by professionals such as Jack Nicklaus or Robert Trent Jones, where players can admire the scenery of the Mar de Cortés (Sea of Cortes). One can also go sport fishing, or admire the exotic maritime species of the area in pleasant diving journeys along the Roca del Pelícano (Pelican’s Rock) or the Colonia de Leones Marítimos (Colony of Sea Lions); go shopping at luxurious and modern malls, or have fun at the well known night clubs and restaurants that welcome you with incomparable service.  But tourists don’t only arrive on the cruise ships or direct flights from the U.S.  Thousands of boats and yachts are anchored at the Marina de Cabo San Lucas, a clear example of the luxuries and refinements that may be found in this wonderful port.

San José del Cabo, neighboring town to Cabo San Lucas, which retains an air of tranquility as well as historic, is the municipal head of Los Cabos. In the downtown streets there are shops of all sorts, offering an ideal atmosphere for long walks. On the outskirts of the town you will find the only fresh water estuary of the state, surrounded by palm trees and bambu trees, serving as a prelude to San José del Cabo Beach, where you may observe not only swimmers who enjoy their stay, but hundreds of locals who from the early hours of the morning on, take out their boats to fish for the fresh catch of the day.

Halfway between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo is found what is called  El Corredor (Tourist Corridor), spreading out along Highway No. 1 and following the Mar de Cortés (Sea of Cortes). In this area there are a great number of resorts, newly designed residential areas, and golf courses, as well as beautiful beaches where one can swim or practice scuba diving. For those travelers who are looking for a place that is sufficiently distanced from civilization, you may find  El Corredor the best for tranquility, yet with the advantage of having nearby the towns of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo for shopping and enjoying nights out.

Todos los Santos (All the Saints) is a calm and enchanting town located to the west of Los Cabos, and surrounded by the magnificence of the Pacific Ocean. Towards the north of the town, in a beautiful valley, is a vast expanse of palm, mango and papaya trees. Towards the south there are beaches which notably provide good waves for surfers to take out their boards on. To the east, the imposing Sierra de la Laguna rises, with its great elevations contrasting  the plain that softly goes around the sea, where nature prevails apart from man. For those who have an adventurous spirit, an excursion along the peaks and elevated trails offer the experience of admiring superb and unforgettable landscapes, such as that of a small lagoon surrounded by pine trees. And do you, by chance, remember the song ‘Hotel California’ by The Eagles? Did you know that this song was inspired right here in Todos los Santos? Certainly, it was at the hotel that carries the same name and which gives fame to this town where original art and a relaxing atmosphere abound.

It is Los Cabos, a joining of regions with beautiful enchantment, an area where luxuries and refinements of the most demanding connoisseurs, and the simplicity that feeds the spirit of the locals merge. Los Cabos is a  region of nature and geography as magnificent as it is diverse; beaches and deserts, mountain ranges and valleys in smooth succession. Greatly diversified travelers in a constantly growing tourist infrastructure, make Baja Southern California stand out before the entire world as the  most preferred destination for those searching for the perfect vacation. Welcome to Los Cabos! A place where your visit no doubt will be the first of many.
