Information

The Regional Museum of Guadalajara is located in the old Tridentine Seminar of San Jose. It was built in the late eighteenth century and stands out for its baroque facade, its central patio and its beautiful staircase.
This building had other functions: prison and barracks during the War of Independence; in the late nineteenth century was the site of a school for men and later the Museum of Fine Arts.
It was inaugurated as the Regional Museum in 1976 and is managed by the National Institute of Anthropology and History. It has permanent and temporary exhibitions with several paleontological and archaeological pieces and various works of art. The museum is distributed by theme, beginning with the history of the earth and geological eras. In this section stands a large mammoth skeleton that was found in Catarina, Jalisco.
In each room you can learn the history of Jalisco, covering the  pre-Hispanic era, passing through the colony until today.

The museum opens Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 to 19:00 hrs, Saturdays from 9:00 to 18:00  hrs and Sundays from 9:00 to 15:00 hrs.

It is located at  60 Liceo street.
