Information

Built between February 1949 and the beginning of 1956, the Latin America Tower was the first skyscraper in Mexico. Located in the Historic Center of Mexico City at the intersection between the Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas and Calle Francisco I. Madero, occupies a spot where once stood a Spanish convent and where, before the Conquest, the Emperor Moctezuma Xocoyotzin had created one of the first zoos in the world.

Between 1933 and 1960 it was the only skyscraper built in a seismic zone and the sixth highest in the world. Its facade of glass and aluminum was the largest in the world and its elevators, the fastest in its time. The earthquake technology, 100% Mexican, is still used by all builders of skyscrapers in seismic zones.  The Latin Tower in: 3 basements, 44 floors. 361 riders placed at a depth of 33 meters. Total weight of the building: 24,100 tons. Height: 138 meters, plus a 44-meter antenna. Building Area: 27,700 m2. Facade: 15.000 m2 of glass and 3.200 m sheets of corrugated aluminum.

The Latin America Tower Museum (Floor 38): Its permanent photographic exhibition entitled "The City and the Tower through the ages" shows the various stages of construction of the tower and as well as the development of Mexico City.

Latin Tower Lookout: From its three floors it has a spectacular view of Mexico City, noticeable to the naked eye or through a telescope.  Floors 42 and 43 have a glass viewpoint and floor 44 has a viewpoint in the open air.

Hours and cost: Open every day from Monday to Sunday from 9:00a.m. to 10:00p.m.  Adults $ 60 pesos, Children: $ 50.  Seniors with ID: $40 pesos  Discount for groups of more than 20 people (with a previous reservation).  On December 24th and 31st open from 9:00a.m. to 8:00p.m..  On December 25 and January 1: open at 10:00a.m.
