Señor del Encino Church
Señor del Encino Church
This temple is well known because in its interior you can venerate the famous Cristo Negro del Encino. According to the legend a neighbor of the city cut the trunk of an oak tree when he suddenly found inside the wood the image of Jesus Christ. Since then, each November 13 it celebrates the miraculous appearance. The construction of the temple began in 1773, and the style of the building is a mixture of the latest manifestation of the Baroque with some characteristics of the neoclassical. Opposite the church you can visit the Jardin del Encino, inaugurated on September 16, 1890.
